You all know that Narmada Shivalinga is the most famous Shivalinga among all the Shivalingas. This is a stone which is obtained from the lap of Mother Narmada. In a way, it generates positive energy.
Due to which we consider the pebbles of Narmada as sacred and auspicious. It is said that where Narmadeshwar washes. Negative energy does not enter there.
Narmada Shivalinga
The pebbles that come out from the bottom of Mother Narmada. We call it Narmada Shivalinga. These stones appear smooth and hard. Narmada Shivling is a wonderful creation of Mother Narmada and nature.
Due to the strong flow of Mother Narmada and the friction between the stones, the stones of Narmada themselves become oval and smooth. But due to the construction of dams in Mother Narmada, the flow of water has become slow.
Due to which there is less friction between stones and water. For this reason, the stones taken out of Narmada have to be given the form of Shivalinga. The people of the village take out stones from Narmada. And they are carved by machines and given the shape of Shivalinga.
Due to which they look beautiful and shiny and we can easily install them on water bodies too. Narmadeshwar Shivalinga can be taken out directly from Maa Narmada and installed in the house and temple.
Narmada Shivling is also called Swayambhu Shivling. Which does not require any kind of life-consecration. These can be installed directly by taking them out from the bed of Mother Narmada.
Narmada Shivalinga is also called Narmada Banalinga. It itself is formed in the bed of Narmada and it has been named Banalingam after the name of Banasur. Banasur was a devotee of Lord Shiva, who pleased Lord Shiva by doing penance and asked for Shivling as a boon and this Shivling is due to flowing in Mother Narmada. These are called Narmada Banalingam.

How to establish Narmada Shivlinga
- Narmada Shivling can be established in home or office but choose a suitable place for the establishment of Shivling where there is cleanliness and open space.
- For installation of Narmada Shivling in the house, keep it only of thumb size. Actually, it can be kept from 2 inches to 6 inches. But Shivling should be of 2 inches and its Jalhari should be of 4 inches. A very big Shivling should not be kept in the house. Rather a small Narmadeshwar Shivalinga should be installed. The length of Shiva Linga should be equal to the thumb of a person. So it is very auspicious as per Vaastu.
- Before installing Shivalinga, perform Abhishekam with water and Panchamrit.
- Tulsi leaves should never be offered to Shivling nor should it be offered. Shaligram in the form of Lord Vishnu is established with Tulsi leaves.
- While establishing Shivalinga, chant Om Namah Shivay and offer Belpatra, Samipatra and flowers on Shivalinga.
