Shivling is made up of power and energy. The whole universe in which the whole universe merges in the time of pralaya, and from which it is created again in the time of creation, it is called Lingam.
Lingam is consider the formless form of Shiva. Which signifies energy throughout the universe. And represents the single form of Shiva and Shakti. Because Shivling is the single form of Shakti (Parvati) and Lord Shiva.
